Catz Rowing at Summer VIII’s

men rowing

Summer + Rowing = Summer VIII’s! Thanks to everybody who supported our teams in one way or the other 🙂

Here’s this year’s report

Last Saturday saw a cracking conclusion to the 2016 Oxford collegiate rowing season with the best performance of St Catz boat club (SCCBC) since 1998. Over the 4 crews that competed, Catz moved a total of 12 places up the ladder, without receiving a single bump! This earned us 3rd place for the overall net position out of the 36 colleges that compete, and 1st place for the net position per boat!

It was an absolute pleasure for us to row with the gentlemen of the 1st VIII and to be part of the thriving and ever growing community of the wider boat club!

Finally, although the collegiate rowing season is now over and the Isis is quiet, we are looking toward the horizon with much excitement. In August, we will host 7 students from Tsukuba University Rowing Club in Japan, who will compete in the City of Oxford Royal Regatta with (or against) us as part of an exchange! In turn, Catz will be sending the men’s 1st VIII to compete in the National Japanese University championships in September!

If you want to be part of this thriving and really inclusive club, please contact David Smith our lower boats captain to join our novice programme!

Oars out claws out,

Julian Malisano (MCR Co-President) & Georgios Ntentas (SCCBC President)
